RECOMMENDii connects people and businesses in communities across the USA and Canada. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means RECOMMENDii. When it says "you" or "your," it means you, the person using this website.

We only collect what helps us run RECOMMENDii. Here is what we collect and why:

• Account information: your name, email address, mobile phone number, street address and password. We use these to set up your account, confirm who you are, and contact you about your account.
• Profile information: details you choose to add to your RECOMMENDer or business profile. This can include your city, province or state, services, website, social media links, photos and a description. We use this so people can find and learn about you.
• Location information: the city and province or state on your account and profile. We use this for location search and to work out the right tax for payments.
• Connection information: which RECOMMENDers and businesses are connected, when they connected, and the status of each connection. We need this to run the platform.
• Payment information: when a business pays, we record the amount, the tax, the currency, the PayPal transaction number and the date. We do not store credit card or bank details. PayPal handles all payments. We share transaction details with PayPal only to process payments and send payouts to RECOMMENDers.
• PayPal email address: RECOMMENDers give us a PayPal email address so we can send their payouts. We use it only for payouts.
• Messages: if you use the contact form to message a business, a RECOMMENDer or our support team, we keep a copy. We use it to pass messages along and to answer your questions.
• Login and security information: we record the IP address and date of your last three logins. This helps you spot anyone else using your account, and it helps us keep the platform safe.
• IP address for rate limiting: when you fill out some forms, like sign up or password reset, we briefly record your IP address. This stops abuse and automated attacks. These records are deleted after one hour.
• Technical information: basic data like your browser type and session details. This keeps you signed in and keeps the site running safely.

We only collect what we need. We never sell your information to anyone.

We use your information to:

• Run your account and let you sign in.
• Show your profile to people using RECOMMENDii.
• Connect RECOMMENDers and businesses.
• Process and record payments.
• Send you account emails, like email checks and password resets.
• Answer messages you send us.
• Keep the site safe and working well.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Some of what you put on RECOMMENDii is public. This includes your profile name, tagline, location, services and any photos you upload. This is how people find and learn about you.

You control your profile. If you hide your phone number or email address, we will not show them. Only signed-in users can use the contact form to reach you.

We share your information with only these companies, and only as much as they need:

• PayPal: processes payments from businesses and payouts to RECOMMENDers. PayPal has its own privacy policy at paypal.com/privacy. We share only what PayPal needs to complete a payment.
• Email provider: our hosting provider's email service sends account emails, like email checks, password resets and connection notices. Your email address is used only for this.

We may also share information when the law requires it, such as a court order or a valid legal request from police or government in the USA or Canada. We share only what the request requires.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

We keep your information while your account is open, and for a set time after you close it:

• Open accounts: kept while you have an account.
• Closed accounts: if you close your account or ask us to delete it, we keep your data for up to one year. This lets us settle any disputes, follow the law, and restore your account if you ask. After one year, your personal information is deleted for good.
• Payment records: kept for up to seven years to meet tax and accounting laws.
• Login security records: kept while your account is open, and deleted when your account is fully removed.
• Rate limiting records: deleted after one hour.
• Contact messages: kept for up to two years.

You are in control of your information. Wherever you live in the USA or Canada, you have the right to:

• See your information: view and update most of it in your account at any time. You can also ask for a full copy of everything we hold about you.
• Fix your information: change it in your account, or ask us and we will fix it.
• Delete your information: ask us to delete your account and your personal information. We aim to finish within 30 days. Payment records may be kept for up to seven years, as the law requires.
• Withdraw consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time by asking us to delete your account. This means you will no longer be able to use the platform.

Canadian users: you are also protected by PIPEDA, Canada's federal privacy law. If you think we have not handled your information properly, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

To use any of these rights, sign in and use the Contact page. Tell us clearly what you want, for example: "Please send me a copy of all my personal information" or "Please delete my account and all my data." We will reply within one business day and aim to finish every request within 30 days.

We use a few cookies to keep you signed in and make the site work. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies that follow you around the internet.

If you turn off cookies in your browser, you will not be able to sign in.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, theft and misuse. Passwords are stored using secure hashing. PayPal handles payments, so your full payment details never pass through our servers.

No website can promise perfect security. If you think someone has gotten into your account, sign in and use the Contact page to tell us right away.

Your information is stored on secure servers in the USA. Our head office is in Ontario, Canada.

Because our servers are in the USA, your information is covered by US law, including the US CLOUD Act. Under these laws, US courts and government agencies can sometimes require our hosting provider or us to hand over information.

If you live in Canada, this means your information is stored and processed outside Canada. We protect your information as this policy describes, no matter where it is stored.

RECOMMENDii is available in the USA and Canada. The platform is in English only.

RECOMMENDii is not available in Quebec. Quebec's privacy law (Law 25) has rules, including French language rules, that RECOMMENDii does not currently meet.

RECOMMENDii is not built for people in the European Union or European Economic Area, and it does not follow the GDPR, Europe's privacy law. It is also not for use anywhere else it would not be legal.

By using RECOMMENDii, you confirm that you live in the USA or in Canada outside Quebec, and that using the platform is legal where you live.

RECOMMENDii is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has made an account, contact us and we will remove it quickly.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make big changes, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the site. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

If you keep using RECOMMENDii after a change, you accept the updated policy.
